Mobile technology has come a long way from the days of the “brick” cell, which was actually cool back then. It’s one of those things where I am astonished in all the technological advances and how the new technologies are accessible to everybody. So why will iPhone be successful now in a field of other phone that in some instances do way more than the Apple iPhone? Simply put, because it is easier to use and esthetically pleasing.

Bill Gate’s genius was understanding that the future was software. On the other hand, Steve Job’s greatest failure was not understanding that hardware wasn’t the future. That was the eighties. Enter the iPhone. I believe the only products that will survive, let alone be successful, are products that are designed for the users’ experience not outdated standards. At this point, well written software and good hardware are required but now add to that better usability.

AT&T;’s slogan “Raising the bar” is very fitting if applied to the iPhone. I won’t speak to their service. There are many phones out there that do a lot more than the iPhone can do right now. However, whatever the iPhone does it does better than any other in the field and that will create greater expectations on mobile phones moving forward. It’s simply because if you make your product easy to use it becomes easy to adopt. The iPhone has raised the mobile bar.
